Profile: At once an established name and a vital force in dance, Michael Smuin served as Principal Dancer and choreographer with the San Francisco Ballet and American Ballet Theatre.

Currently: Smuin Ballet was founded in 1994 by Michael Smuin, and the company tour nationally to great acclaim.

Broadway: His Broadway credits include Sophisticated Ladies (Director/Choreograher: two Tony nominations), Anything Goes (Choreographer: Tony, Drama Desk and Fred Astaire Awards), Shogun (Director/Choreographer) and Canciones de mi Padre (Director/Choreographer).

Film: Mr Smuin’s feature film credits include Rumble Fish, Cotton Club, Dracula, The Joy Luck Club, The Outsiders and Return of the Jedi, Special Edition, among others.

Choreography: He has won Emmy Awards for such pieces as Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, and A Song for Dead Warriors. Mr Smuin’s ballet’s are currently in the repertoires of major dance companies around the country.
