Join Dance Consortium in association with The Space as we present a masterclass from the internationally-renowned Alvin Ailey® American Dance Theater.
The class was livestreamed from Sadler’s Wells on Facebook and Twitter, on Friday 13 September 2019, with participants watching and taking part in the live Q&A at Birmingham Hippodrome, Brighton Dome, Cardiff Millennium Centre, Norwich Theatre Royal, Plymouth Theatre Royal and Southampton Mayflower.
Watch the class led by Matthew Rushing (Rehearsal Director for the Ailey company) and company dancers, working with participants on stage at Sadler’s Wells. You’re invited to follow the class and learn from home as they share insights into Ailey’s inspiring history, demonstarte selected choreography from their piece ‘Lazarus’ – the two-act ballet inspired by Ailey’s life and times, by acclaimed hip-hop dance choreographer Rennie Harris – and finish with an audience Q&A and bonus demonstration of choreography from the iconic ‘Revelations’.
The livestream, hosted by Hakeem Onibudo, lasts for approximately an hour total, including instruction followed by a Q&A. Watch in full below, where you can also view a highlights video as well as an image gallery.
