Amy Dolan will succeed Heather Knight, Dance Consortium’s Coordinator since its inception, who steps down in November 2018 after an eighteen year tenure to take on new challenges in the dance world. Amy will shadow Heather during our Autumn tour of Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo and will lead on tour coordination for Mark Morris’ Pepperland in the Spring of 2019.
Most recently, Amy was Company Manager & International Tour Producer with Scottish Ballet and previously held similar positions with Birmingham Royal Ballet (Assistant Company Manager & Technical Administrator, and Production Coordinator during Sir Peter Wright’s The Nutcracker season at The O2 Arena, London), the Royal Shakespeare Company (Production Assistant, Matilda) and Broadway Entertainment Group (Production Coordinator, Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake UK, Europe & International Tour, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast International Tour, and ‘Tap Dogs’ Asia Tour). Amy graduated with a BA (Hons) in Music, Theatre and Entertainment Management from Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 2012.
As Tour Coordinator with Dance Consortium Amy will be responsible for ensuring good working relations between international touring companies and the UK member theatres of the Consortium. Over the next four years she will be working with companies from all over the globe arranging their schedules, travel and accommodation and ensuring that the artists receive the warmest possible welcome from the UK cities and theatres that they visit.
Alongside its performance strands, Dance Consortium has developed a relationship with Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) since 2009. Selected students have joined Dance Consortium UK tours to help them make contacts and understand the “real world” of the theatre and dance sectors. Amy was the first LIPA student to accompany Heather and subsequently worked on four UK tours between 2009 and 2011.
Heather has been involved in Amy’s career development and says: “Amy is the obvious person to replace me. Her knowledge of Dance Consortium combined with her extensive experience to date working with UK theatres and various ballet and dance companies on international touring is perfect for the role of Tour Coordinator. She joins a hugely experienced team and I have every confidence that she will be a force in the future successful development of Dance Consortium.”
Ros Robins, Dance Consortium’s Executive Director, said: “It was with great regret that Dance Consortium members received the news that Heather Knight was to step down from her position as Coordinator with Dance Consortium in November of this year. Without Heather’s leadership and inspiration, commitment and selflessness, drive and determination there would be no Dance Consortium.
It seems only fitting that the next Tour Coordinator with the Consortium should be someone whose career has been inspired by Heather’s work and we are delighted to welcome Amy, whose experience of working with dance companies internationally and across the UK combined with her commitment and enthusiasm for Dance Consortium’s work will help ensure that UK and Ireland audiences continue to be entertained by the work of the best international contemporary dance companies.”
On accepting the role, Amy Dolan said: “Dance Consortium inspired me whilst I was a student at Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and I am now delighted to be working with the Consortium as it approaches its 20th anniversary year in 2020. Having established an impressive reputation for its adventurous and diverse programming, I am honoured to continue Heather Knight’s legacy in this new chapter for the Consortium. Over the forthcoming years I look forward to coordinating the very best of international dance, touring throughout the UK, and working with the Dance Consortium team, to continue to educate, excite and challenge new and existing audiences about dance.”
