With the London dates all finished up and the rest of the UK tour not beginning for just over a week The Trocks have had some time on their hands. Luckily for you we’ve been giving some behind the scenes gossip from the wonderful Carlos.

Bonjour!

A few lucky members of the company got to go to the lovely city of Paris for a couple days during our week off in London. I was very happy I was asked to go because not only do I love France and its food, but I particularly enjoy the city. The reason for our trip was to dance the famous section of the four little swans from Trockadero`s Swan Lake Act II at Le Movement, la Danse, a doctor’s convention. The performance was held at the Casino of Paris for a one night only event, and the idea was very exciting!

The five of us took the Eurostar train departing from London. I have never taken it before and it is super fast and convenient. We made it there in only 2 hours and 20 minutes. As soon as we checked into our hotel, my fiancé Chase and I went for a walk around the city. We met with Loïc, a former Trock and friend, who lives and works there now. It was wonderful to see each other again after all this time. And the steak tartar I had craved and ordered that night for dinner, was simply delicious!

The morning after we had technical rehearsal at the Casino. It didn’t take too much time, leaving us the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the city even more. Alberto, Chase and I went to visit the Moulin Rouge, which opened its doors back in 1889. It is marked by the famous red windmill on its roof, and it is best known as the birthplace of the modern can-can dance. At the age of 6 I got to see the show with my family!

Then, we walked to the Sacré-Cœur, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, located on the highest point of the city.  It is such a beautiful and incomparable sight to see and is not to be missed. We even found time to shop for some fabric and yarn. In Ballet Trockadero we have a lot of long bus rides, and winter is coming, so I am planning on crocheting some projects for myself and friends during this UK tour!

In the evening we had the performance. I felt so lucky and honored to have shared the stage with former Paris Opera Etoile Agnès Letestu. We even got to meet and chat with her! The show went great. It was so much fun! And I absolutely love being the joke swan in Swan Lake.

It definitely was very refreshing to go perform and visit Paris for a few days.

Au revoir! 🙂
